1. Our commitment
We are working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and we want BirthBridge to be usable however you use the web.
Finding care at this point in your life should not depend on whether one part of a website works with your screen reader. This page sets out what we commit to, and how to reach us if something is in your way.
2. What we commit to
- We treat accessibility defects as bugs, not as feature requests. They go into the same queue as anything else that is broken.
- We aim to fix a reported barrier within 30 days of confirming it, and to tell you within 5 business days what we found and when we expect to have it fixed.
- If a fix will take longer, we will offer you another way to do the thing — over email, or with someone helping you directly.
- We will not treat you differently for telling us something is inaccessible.
3. Tell us
Email hello@mybirthbridge.com. Say what you were trying to do, where you got stuck, and what you are using — a screen reader, keyboard only, magnification, voice control, or anything else. Any detail helps. If you cannot describe it precisely, tell us anyway; we would rather have a vague report than none.
We will give you any of these documents in another format — large print, plain text, or read to you over a call. Just ask.
Write in French or Spanish if you would rather. We will answer in the same language.
4. Content created by others
Professionals write their own profiles and articles, and families write their own reviews. The alternative text on someone's images, and the way they structure their writing, are theirs rather than ours, so accessibility varies across that content in ways we do not directly control.
If you come across content on BirthBridge you cannot access, tell us. We will work with the person who posted it, or give you the information another way.
Documents that families and professionals share with each other are not converted into an accessible format by us.
5. Getting help another way
If any part of BirthBridge is not usable for you, we will help you do it directly. Searching for support, contacting a professional, making a booking, or managing your account — write to hello@mybirthbridge.com and a person will do it with you.
This is not a workaround we offer reluctantly. It is a real route, and using it costs you nothing.
6. The standards behind this
- United States: the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Section 508 where it applies. WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the standard generally used to assess a website.
- Canada: the Accessible Canada Act, Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Manitoba's Accessibility for Manitobans Act, and comparable provincial legislation.
If you need this or any other of our documents in an alternative format, ask us and we will provide it.
