1. What this covers
Cookies, and the other things that behave like cookies — browser local storage, session storage, and similar technology. We use the word "cookies" below to mean all of it, because the distinction matters to engineers and not to you.
You can reopen your choices at any time using the Cookie settings link in our footer.
2. What we set
Strictly necessary — always on
These make the site work. There is no way to turn them off and still have a working account, and no law requires consent for them.
| What | Where it is kept | What it does |
|---|---|---|
accessToken | Browser local storage | Keeps you signed in |
isEmailVerified | Browser local storage | Remembers that your email is confirmed |
birthbridge_cookie_consent | Cookie, and local storage | Remembers your cookie choice, so we stop asking |
birthbridge_care_team_draft_v1 | Browser local storage | Holds a care team you are part-way through building, so you do not lose it |
Sign-in is handled through Google's Firebase Authentication, which may set its own storage on your device to keep the sign-in working.
Our own measurement
BirthBridge keeps its own record of how people move through the site — which pages were opened, in what order, and where visits came from — so that we can see where people get stuck and fix it. This is sent to our own servers, and no other company receives it.
| What | Where it is kept | What it does |
|---|---|---|
bb_anonymous_id | Browser local storage | A random identifier for this browser |
bb_visitor_user_id | Browser local storage | A random identifier used alongside it |
bb_session_id | Browser session storage | Identifies a single visit |
bb_last_identified_user | Browser local storage | Records that this browser has been connected to a signed-in account |
When you sign in, the identifier for your browser is connected to your account, which is how we can tell that one person's visits belong together rather than appearing to be many different people.
What it is never used for: it is not sold, not shared, not given to any advertising company, and not used to target advertising anywhere. Health information is not sent to it.
If you would rather not be included, write to hello@mybirthbridge.com and we will exclude you. You can also clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Analytics — off until you say yes
Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager. These set Google's own cookies, usually named _ga and _ga_<id>.
- They do not load at all until you accept analytics cookies.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, they never load and you are never asked.
- You can withdraw at any time through Cookie settings in the footer.
- Health information is never sent to Google Analytics.
Advertising — none
We set no advertising cookies, no advertising pixels, and no advertising tags. There is no Meta pixel, no TikTok pixel, no advertising network, and no retargeting.
We use Google Tag Manager, which is a container that makes it possible to add tags without changing code. We use it only for the analytics above. If we ever add anything that tracks you for advertising, we will change this page first, and it will require your consent.
3. Your choices
- Cookie settings in our footer, at any time.
- Global Privacy Control. If your browser or an extension sends this signal, we treat it as an opt-out: Google Analytics and Tag Manager never load, and you are not asked to consent. We do not sell or share personal information or run targeted advertising, so there is nothing else for the signal to switch off.
- Your browser settings. You can block or delete cookies and clear site storage. Blocking strictly necessary items will break sign-in and booking.
- Ask us. hello@mybirthbridge.com.
4. Quebec
Quebec's Law 25 requires that technology which identifies, locates, or profiles a person be deactivated by default.
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager are off by default and load only if you turn them on.
- We do not use any technology that profiles you for advertising, tracks you across other websites, or locates you precisely.
- Strictly necessary technology, such as what keeps you signed in, is not profiling technology.
If you are in Quebec and would prefer to be excluded from our own measurement described in Section 2, write to hello@mybirthbridge.com and we will exclude you.
5. Changes
We will post updates here with a new "Last Updated" date, and we will update this page before adding anything that tracks you across other websites.
