Why this is a separate page
Washington's My Health My Data Act requires a business that handles consumer health data to publish a separate notice about it, reachable by its own link, rather than a section buried inside a general privacy policy. Nevada's SB 370 and Connecticut's consumer health data provisions are similar in substance.
So this is that separate notice. It is written for people in those states, but nothing in it is a special deal for them. The way we treat health information is the same everywhere, and if you live somewhere else you can read this as an accurate description of what happens to your information too.
Where this page and our Privacy Policy both apply, this page controls for consumer health data.
1. What counts as consumer health data here
These laws define health data more broadly than most people expect. On BirthBridge, the information below is consumer health data:
- That you are pregnant, and your due date or how far along you are.
- That you gave birth, and when.
- Where you plan to give birth — hospital, birth centre, home.
- What kind of support you are looking for: labour support, lactation help, postpartum mental health support, pelvic floor therapy, sleep support, nutrition, and so on.
- That you are seeking care at all. Under these laws, the fact that you are looking for a health service is itself health data. Running a search for a postpartum doula counts.
- Anything you type into a message to a professional about your health, your pregnancy, your birth, your recovery, or your baby.
- Anything you upload and share with a professional.
- What you save in Family Journey, and anything about your bookings that reveals the kind of care you sought.
Precise location data is treated as consumer health data by these laws when it could reveal that you sought health services. We do not collect precise location. We use an approximate area so that we can show you people near you.
2. What we do with it
We use it to help you find and arrange care. That is the whole list.

We do not sell consumer health data. Under Washington's law, selling consumer health data requires a signed authorization on a prescribed form. We do not seek one, because we do not sell it. If that ever changed, it would require your signed authorization first, and you could revoke it at any time.
We run no advertising pixels and no advertising tags. We use Google Analytics to understand how the platform is used. It loads only after you accept analytics cookies, it is never given health information, and it is not used to target advertising to you anywhere.
3. Who else sees it
The professional you contact. When you reach out to someone, they see your name, your contact details, and what you told them. That is the point of contacting them, and it is the main way your information moves.
Service providers who help us run the platform, listed by name with their processing locations in Section 6.2 of our Privacy Policy. They may only use information to provide their service to us. None of them is an advertising company.
Nobody else — no affiliates, no partners, no researchers, no buyers of data.
4. Consent
We collect health information only where you give it to us to get something done — you type a due date into a search, or you write to a professional about what you need. We do not collect it in the background, we do not infer it from your behaviour, and we do not buy it from anyone.
We use it only for the thing you asked for. There is no secondary use, no advertising use, and no profiling.
We do not sell or share it, so the separate authorization those laws require before consumer health data is sold or shared does not arise.
Withdrawing. You can delete health information in your account settings, ask us to delete it at hello@mybirthbridge.com, or close your account, at any time. We will act on it without asking you to justify it.
5. Your rights
If you live in Washington, Nevada, or Connecticut, you have the right to:
- Know what consumer health data we collect about you, how we use it, and who we share it with.
- Access it and get a copy.
- Withdraw consent to its collection and its sharing.
- Delete it. Washington's right to delete is strong: on a valid request we delete the data from our records, including backups and archives, and we notify the service providers holding it on our behalf to do the same. We will tell you when backup deletion will complete if it cannot be immediate.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of this. We will not deny you service, charge you more, or give you a worse experience.
To make a request: email hello@mybirthbridge.com, or use the controls in your account settings. We will verify who you are before we act, and we will respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you within that period, explain why, and give you a date. It is free.
If we say no, we will tell you why and how to appeal. If we deny the appeal, we will tell you how to complain to your Attorney General.
6. Legal requests, and pregnancy information
This deserves its own section, because for this audience it is not a formality.
We apply heightened scrutiny to any request — from anyone, in any state — for information that would reveal a person's pregnancy status, pregnancy outcome, or the reproductive health care they sought or received.
- We require legally valid and enforceable process. A letter, a phone call, or an informal ask gets nothing.
- We object to requests that are overbroad or that we believe lack legal authority.
- We challenge process where we have a good faith basis to do so.
- Where we are permitted to, we tell you before we disclose anything, so you have a chance to object.
- Where the law lets us require an attestation about the purpose of a request before disclosing, we require one.
- We never provide this information voluntarily.
Washington, California, New York, and other states have shield laws restricting cooperation with out-of-state investigations into lawfully obtained reproductive health care. We will assert every protection those laws give us.
7. Where your information is stored
In the United States. We do not currently offer storage in any other country. Section 11 and Schedule B2 of our Privacy Policy explain what that means, including for Canadian users.
8. How long we keep it
As set out in Section 5 of our Privacy Policy. In summary: messages for 24 months after a conversation ends or until you delete your account, whichever is earlier; account information for the life of the account and 24 months after; booking and transaction records for 7 years because tax law requires it.
If you ask us to delete something, we do not wait for a schedule.
9. Changes
We will post updates here with a new "Last Updated" date. If a change materially affects how we handle consumer health data, we will tell you before it takes effect, and where these laws require your consent to the change, we will ask for it rather than assume it.
