Moonroot Birth Doula

Hi, I'm Anita Hermosilla (she/her), a Birth Doula, Placenta Encapsulation Specialist, and Community Birth Worker based in Austin, Texas. I provide continuous, holistic, evidence-informed support in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, helping families feel empowered, informed, and deeply supported throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey.

My work is rooted in both professional training and lived experience.

I immigrated to the United States from Chile without the support of nearby family or a community to lean on. Becoming a mother while navigating a new country profoundly shaped the way I understand birth, healing, and the importance of compassionate support.

I am the mother of three children: my oldest daughter was born through an unmedicated vaginal birth, while my twins were born by cesarean birth and spent time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Experiencing both an empowering physiological birth and the unexpected challenges of a surgical birth and NICU journey gave me a unique perspective on the many paths birth can take.

These experiences taught me firsthand how important it is to feel heard, respected, and supported—regardless of how your birth unfolds. Every family's journey is different, and I believe every family deserves compassionate, nonjudgmental care.

Since 2020, I have been a DONA International-trained Birth Doula with additional training in Rebozo techniques, Placenta Medicine, Sound Healing, and Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Circle Facilitation. My work with Mama Sana Vibrant Woman, serving families throughout Central Texas, has deepened my commitment to reproductive justice, culturally responsive care, and supporting families from diverse backgrounds.
