About Sherry The Doula
I come from a family of birthworkers, and this has shaped me immeasurably. I witnessed deep care of others in my family. I learned the importance of helping others by being kind, compassionate, and patient. I witnessed the kind of support families need to thrive. These ways of caring are embedded in me.
The supportive behaviors modeled in my family then shaped my own career as a preschool teacher, nanny, and outdoor educator. I am forever inspired to deliver a high level of excellence, continue my learning, and provide the best support imaginable to new families.
MY OWN TRAINING AS A BIRTH and BODYWORKER
I have been attending Los Angeles area births as a doula since 2015, including births in homes, hospitals, and birth centers. My knowledge and skills are a blend of formal education (see the list of courses I’ve taken below), and apprenticeship by alongside modern and traditional midwives and healers in the U.S., Mexico and India.
