Borsso Doula services

I am a birth Doula and I would love to focus on serving women like myself black muslim women because of my experience birthing while being a black Muslim woman, I am also here to help any and all women go through this right of passage called motherhood. I want to be able to uphold traditional values that Muslim women hold near and dear to their hearts, maintain their dignity while birthing in a society that does not respect dignity. I also want to facilitate a traditional Muslim values to my Muslim clients and be sensitive to injustice that may arise with anyone that is either black, Muslim or female or all the above like me. And my mission is also to spread what a Doula is to my African community who in theory no what a doula is but not seeing it as a significant importance, especially when they’re here in America. What makes me unique like I mention many times before is that I am black, but also born to African parents but born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and I am a Muslim so I am very diverse in the experience of being black in America like African-Americans would but not in the same exact way, but being first generation American born here I feel like a double agent sometimes because people from Africa assume that I’m African-American and Americans think that I’m a born in Africa so they make certain stereotypical assumptions about me and I see both sides clearest day of how differently we treat each other other whether amongst each other or in the workforce or in society in general. Being Muslim while trying to uphold my religious beliefs and being discriminated against because I need to do certain rituals like prayer. So I know all about discrimination and feeling like I don’t belong anywhere while simultaneously belonging everywhere.
